Since its debut in 2017, Nature fibres manufactures and distributes biobased insulation products with high energy performance, having a positive impact on the environment and people’s health.
In 2024, the company, which has a proven track record in the industry, launched Profib ® Cell, a thermal and acoustic insulation, made of 100% wood fibers from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council ® ) certified forests, 100% made in Quebec. Discover this new insulation with its many benefits.

Exceptional energy performance, stability and
humidity control

Profib ® Cell bulk insulation is a cellulosic fiber insulation (CAN/ULC-S703-09, TYPE 1 certification). It has an R value of 3.7 per inch. Composed of more than 86% recycled wood fibers, this biobased product offers remarkable benefits:
  • Highly stable thermal performances, even in extreme weather conditions;
  • Removal of thermal bridges thanks to homogeneous filling, for continuous insulation without seals;
  • Settlement factor of less than 10%, equivalent to 50% less settlement than other bulk insulation. This property is specific to fibers that bind together, allowing stable filling over time;
  • Higher thermal insulation ratio compared to competitors, considering the amount of product to be used. Indeed, wood fibre covers a larger area using fewer bags (8-12%);
  • Indoor humidity control capacity, for optimal indoor comfort;
  • Higher properties of inertia and thermal phase shift, providing summer comfort for occupants;
  • Extremely absorbent sound insulation coefficient (SAA and NRC indices > 0.75 according to ASTM C423).

Offering Profib ® Cell to your customers means offering a quality thermal and acoustic insulation solution that is reliable, durable and synonymous with great interior comfort.

Simple and dust-free application

Suitable for new construction as well as renovation, Profib ® Cell is injected under pressure between the wooden or metal uprights of the exterior walls, into the wooden-framed floors and between the roof trusses on the horizontal part and the low-pitched roofs.

Its implementation is identical to that of cellulosic recycled paper insulation, so it requires the same equipment, including a blower carder, and the same method. On the other hand, Profib ® Cell has a lower density allowing to minimize the compaction effect when applied to vertical spaces such as walls (density: 29.5 kg/m 3 ). Injection with needle-type nozzles facilitates application and thus allows optimal density. The product should be applied at a density of 48 kg/m 3 for optimal insulation and ensure proper distribution of the fiber in walls or closed cavity.

Note that the use of a high-performance hygrovariable membrane is recommended, as with all wood fibre insulation. This membrane acts as a vapour brake and airtightness in all constructions open to outside diffusion with underroof screen or wood fibre panels.
For closed cavity application, a 6-mil thick hygrovariable retaining membrane is required to retain the slightly pressurized fiber between the walls.

Odour-free and contaminant-free, Nature fibres wood fibre insulation is natural, non-abrasive and non-toxic. In fact, it has the lowest toxicity on the market! By choosing Nature fibres wood fibre insulation, you install a safe, highly fireproof, antifungal and corrosion resistant product. Optimized for permanent durability, Profib ® Cell has obtained the highest level of certification CAN/ULC-S703-09 (R-2020).

Moreover, it causes less dust and debris than cellulose insulation from paper recycling. By using Profib ® Cell, you help improve the health and safety of your employees!

Finally, Profib ® Cell saves money: you cover a larger area thanks to the properties of wood fibre. Thus, each 25 lb bag covers 8-12% more surface area than recycled paper cellulose!

Biobased, local and circular economy

With Profib ® Cell, you offer an environmentally friendly product with a very low impact on the environment, throughout its life cycle.

Composed of 100% natural, renewable and recyclable wood fibres, Nature fibres’ new insulation is carbon negative. What does this actually mean? Plant raw materials such as wood fibre allow carbon sequestration. According to the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ), for every square metre of wood used in construction, 1 ton of CO 2 is avoided.

Also, no tree is cut to make Profib ® Cell: it is made of wood fibre chips recovered from Quebec sawmills. And the trees from which these residues come from sustainably managed forests, certified FSC (Forest Stewardship Council ® ), an independent label recognized worldwide. Thus, Profib ® Cell helps to highlight the by-products of the Quebec wood industry.
Another ecological advantage: this type of cellulose requires less processing compared to paper cellulose. Learn more about the benefits of biobased insulation.

100% made in Quebec, this insulation has an exceptionally low global warming potential of 0.2 kg CO 2 -eq (1m2: 1 RSI).
Finally, the use of Profib ® Cell insulation helps to obtain credits for the certification of green and sustainable buildings such as LEED ®.
